Rereading the main characters introductory stories was helpful through the first half of the book (page and chapter information listed below.) ![]() Eventually, about 80 pages in, I found the rhythm and began to learn the different characters’ voices. ![]() The format is similar to a play, except the speaker’s identity is only revealed after they have spoken, which can lead to some page flipping. The novel is comprised of many dead voices in the graveyard and (fictional) contemporary third-person accounts of the country and the Lincoln family’s travails.
